5 Free Ways to Pamper Yourself Right Now

You don't have to be a mom to get burnt out (although a staggering number of moms are running on empty). Women in general constantly take care of others and rarely take the time to pamper ourselves. If you are looking for a reminder to refill your cup, HERE IT IS! These 5 FREE ways to pamper yourself are just the beginning. Take a moment and ask yourself what you need right now. Maybe it's a hot bath or shower? or a night in with girlfriends? Whatever you crave, you have to make the time for yourself.  

My suggestions are the coping mechanisms I used while caring for my two boys when I was a SAHM. It's not something I really thought about until after the fog cleared. It's no secret that Nixon was a terrible sleeper and I could rarely get the boys to nap at the same time. I had to get creative in the ways that I could recharge my body and mind before getting burnt out. 

Take a nap
If you're a mom that gets the recommended hours of sleep a night (uninterrupted) consider yourself lucky! For me, sleep is a long lost friend that I am only now reacquainting myself with. It's not that I don't sleep, I just love it as much as my children love waking up early. sigh. When I was on mat leave, I was a champ napper. Now, I'm lucky to get a 15 minute break on the weekend. I need to remind myself to slow down and take a cat nap when I can. I also love searching for guided sleep meditation on Spotify to listen to when I doze off.

Grab a coffee
Look at the bags under my eyes! You can see that I clearly didn't have time to nap! lol I love my coffee because it feels like a little ritual that allows me to unwind (while providing me with a much needed pick me up!) One of my favorite things to do (especially in the Fall) is put my coffee in a travel mug, toss the boys in the stroller, and go for a walk around the neighbourhood. 



Watch the latest season of Queer Eye... or whatever your jam is!
Get your Netflix on and zone the F out. I do this on my lunch break so I actually sit and do something just for ME!

Get moving
Whether you prefer a solo walk, hike, or an all-out exercise class, we all know you feel better when you move your body. Sometimes you just need to pencil it in or have a destination. If you’re a SAHM with a small baby, you are likely still in the fog of new motherhood and finding a sitter is not on your radar. As mentioned above, one of my favorite things to do was to pack a decaf coffee and go for an evening walk around the financial district. I specifically chose this area because it was so different and quiet at night. Another great spot is the nearby university campus. I love these areas when it’s still light out but the bustle of the day has died down. It really let me have some much needed peace and quiet and let my mind wander.

Paint your own nails
Whether you give yourself a full pedi or just add a pop of colour, looking down at polished toes can brighten your day. I always paint mine at night and let my toes stick out of the covers when I go to sleep. I also love this Whish Exfoliating Foot Mask that I got in my FabFitFun summer box.
