8 Secrets To Save Time & Energy #MomHacks

I thought creating a #Momhack (or #Lifehack) list could be beneficial to anyone that is looking to make their life more efficient, get a few extra minutes of sleep, or are just slightly lazy in general. Here are my top 8 items that get me through the day and make my life infinitely easier, so I have more time (and energy) for my boys!

coffee, Nescafe Sweet and Creamy

#1: Nescafe Sweet & Creamy:
I’m going to start off with my favorite instant coffee. I know, I’ve lost some of you already but these seriously turn me from troll to mom in seconds. A little over a year ago, Nescafe was on Queen Street handing out piping hot cups of Sweet & Creamy coffee along with some sample packs. I tasted it, thought it was delicious and continued with my morning routine. Then, my coffee machine broke. You heard me, the B$%^# broke! I was a SAHM with my newborn and no coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I was used to drinking decaf but I needed the habitual warm creamy cup of coffee to get my day off on the right foot. I scrounged out the Nescafe Sweet & Creamy packets from my cupboard and my life made sense again. Okay, this is a little dramatic but I love these little guys! These are one of the only things I buy that are in single servings and only because it is the only way they sell them. The price varies from store to store but at Walmart they’ll run you $4.89 for a pack of 18 whereas at Shoppers Drugmart they’re a whopping $9.99 (but go on sale once a month for the Walmart price. You’re welcome!)

Okay, so now I’m awake… What’s next…

Micellar water, Garnier, La Mer, Renew Contact Solution

#2 Micellar Water! Specifically, Garnier Micellar Water for Sensitive Skin:
In the mornings I don’t wash my face with water, just a swipe of micellar water and I’m good to go! I love that my skin doesn’t feel striped of natural oils, it just feels nice and clean. If you want to hear me yammer on about all of my favorite uses and benefits, see my full post here. Otherwise, go out and spend the best $15 in your medicine cabinet.

Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Eye Wand, Benefit blush, Sephora, makeup, Quo Mascara

#3 Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand Dynamic Duo Lift & Light Reflector:
Well, that’s a mouthful! Basically this dual sided wand has a super lightweight eye cream (now that I’m in my 30’s eye cream is a MUST!) on one side and an eye brightener/primer/concealer on the other side. On weekends, I’ll just use this under my mineral powder and I’m good to go. During the week I top it with a concealer for extra coverage.

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder, Tender Rose

#4 Laura Mercier Mineral powder (my shade: Tender Rose):
Mineral powder is amazing because it nixes oil but isn’t dehydrating. It also has light reflecting particles and can be built up for more or less coverage. I personally love the Laura Mercier mineral powder because it doesn’t gather in fine lines and has great coverage. I also find that this one lasts for a long time so I don’t need to reapply it.

This is usually the time of day when I at least look like I have my act together. Now to get shit done… lol

#5 Walmart Grocery delivery:
Anyone that knows me, knows that I love grocery shopping and I love cooking! That being said, I live downtown so the grocery stores available to me (ie. walking distance because if I’m driving, I’m going to Walmart or Costco) are expensive. Another issue is that they are relatively small so they selection isn’t great. This is where Walmarts delivery comes in. I love going online and scheduling a delivery because a lot of their items are significantly cheaper (especially their chicken breasts, diapers and my coffee!!) so the $10 fee isn’t outrageous. Then they come right to your door and I may be wrong but the items always seem fresher then the one’s in their store. I tend to buy most of my big items here and save my fruits and veggies for Lucky Moose in Chinatown. That way, we can hit up the park on the way J

Longo's Meal Kits, Red Wine Braised Chicken

#6 Longos Meal Kits:
This is more of a fun date night hack for when you only need dinner for two and don’t have time to shop or if you’re shopping with a toddler that decided to have a meltdown over everything. I recently made their Red Wine Braised Chicken and shared my thoughts here. These kits are pricey but once in a while they’re fun and you may even learn some new recipes to mimic later!

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturizer, Live Clean Baby Wash

#7 Nivea In shower Body Moisturizer
In a perfect world I would moisturize after every shower (especially since I like them piping hot!) but in reality, I moisturize maybe once a week with a generic cream and a bunch of Bio Oil. I’ve convinced myself it’s okay because I always use this Nivea In shower Body Moisturizer so it leaves a lightweight, hydrated feeling after you towel off. So damn convenient. Especially on my growing belly! Now that I’m typing this, I should up my Bio Oil game because it worked amazing while I was pregnant with Taylor.

John Frieda Frizz Ease

#8 John Frieda Frizz Ease (link to post)
This is an oldie but a goodie! I’ve been using the leave intreatment for a couple of years and I don’t know if I’d be able to live without it! One bottle lasts me well over 12 months (hence the old bottle vs. the new in the photo) and it’s only $15 at Shoppers Drugmart. I really like John Frieda products and will never stray from this treatment even though I’m constantly switching up my shampoo.
